Habitat management plans

Habitat management plans set out how any negative effects of development will be mitigated or compensated, and how the condition of certain habitats will be enhanced. They are often required as part of a planning application but can also be undertaken to gain additional points under the BREEAM assessment process.

We have extensive experience of creating pragmatic habitat management plans to offset the negative effects of development, satisfy planning authorities and make developments more sustainable.

As each site has different ecological conditions, habitat management plans should be informed by appropriate baseline surveys. Realistic and practical management measures can then be prescribed based on the sensitivity of the site, the effects of the development on ecological features, and the opportunities for mitigation, compensation and enhancement.
